ZigZag Brick Stitch Neckpiece with Turquoise & Carnelian

This is a new hand-woven beaded necklace, made using Japanese size 11 Matsuno glass beads in opaque black, pearl gray, opaque orange, iridescent translucent orange, opaque turquoise, opaque cobalt, and iridescent translucent cobalt, with a generously ornamented fringe including genuine carnelian and lab-created turquoise chips. Matsuno beads are rounded and vary slightly one from another, giving the piece an interesting nubby texture. The necklace has been hand-beaded (not loom or machine) using triple-bead brick stitch, reinforced (and reinforced and reinforced) throughout the beaded chain and pendant edging. The large pendant measures 3.75" across, 5.5" in length (measured from flat black top to bottom of fringe - about 7" from top edge to bottom fringe), about 24" in length (20" beaded chain). It is moderately heavy... about 2 ounces. The necklace is intended to slip over the wearer's head. On me, the necklace rests at decollete level (would sit lower on a petite or slight woman). The design is identical on both sides of the necklace. This necklace is based on a design featured in Bead and Button magazine. The retail value for this item would be $1250, but since I made this purely for the fun of beading I'm placing the price just high enough to recoup material cost and overhead. This is a one-of-a-kind piece. Enjoy!
